La Feria Internacional del Libro Santo Domingo 2019 / The International Book Fair Santo Domingo 2019
runs from April 26 to May 5 in the Colonial City. There will have educational and fun activities for all ages. This is only the second time in the 22 year history of the book fair that it has been held in the Zona Colonial.
The main parts of the Fair will be held along Calle las Damas. Starting at Parque Pellerano Castro (Parque Rosado). There will be book sales and vendors at the Fortaleza Ozama. Plaza España, Casa Reales and the Embassy of France will hold many activities and events. Different locations on Calle Isabel la Católica will hold events including Centro Cultural Banreservas and the Museo de las Telecomunicaciones. Elsewhere Cinema Boreal (Calle Mercedes) and the Centro Cultural de España (Calle Arz. Meriño) in the Colonial City.
Transportation Options
The Colonial Zone is a small area. It can become very congested with traffic during large events. Many of the streets will only be open to pedestrians. There are many different transportation options available. Park (Park-and-Ride) in the lots at San Souci, Puerto Don Diego, Plaza de la Cultura, Conservatorio Nacional and Parqueo de Aduanas (CC) and take a bus to the Colonial City. Taxis are available at the Puerta del Conde.

This years guest of honor to Puerto Rico and the honored writer is Virgilio Díaz Grullón.
Friday 26 April – Opening day activities.
Saturday 27 April – Dedicated to librería Meteca / Meteca Bookstore
Sunday 28 April – Dedicated to Yrene Santos poet, narrator, cultural activist and teacher.
Monday 29 April – Dedicated to teacher Miriam de Gautreaux, founder of her own pastry school and the labor schools of the National District Council.
Tuesday 30 April – Dedicated to Nan Chevalier, Poet, Narrator and Essayist.
Wednesday 1 May – Dedicated to Leibi Ng, poet and author of literature for children.
Thursday 2 May – Dedicated to José Chez Checo, historian.
Friday 3 May – Dedicated to César Mella, psychiatrist and writer.
Saturday 4 May – Dedicated to Eleuterio Martínez, writer and environmentalist.
Sunday 5 May – Dedicated to Reynaldo Disla, playwright and writer.

“Zona de arte” / “Art Zone” – Parque Rosado, Calle Isabel La Catolica esquina calle José Gabriel Garcia, Zona Colonial. 10AM to 7PM enjoy artistic and cultural activities with several collectives and independent artists. There will be workshops, dance presentations, music and theater. 17 murals will be created during the 10 days of the fair.
