It is that time again for the day and night of free museums and more on Saturday December, 9, 2017 from 10 in the morning to 12 midnight.

La Alegría de la Navidad

is this years theme for the winter version of the 4 times a year free night of museums. There will be fun for the entire family. Education, music, dance, entertainment and more.

All of the museums will be open and free of charge to all the public, with cultural activities in the streets and parks.

To close there will be a concert with Dionny Fernández, Rasputín, Diómedes Núñez and Ileana Reynoso on the stage in Plaza España at 10PM.

It’s time again for the popular event to happen here in the Colonial City. 4 times a year the Ministerio de Cultura opens the museums up for all to see and its free! From 9AM to Midnight are activities all throughout the Zona Colonial. There is music, dancing, lectures, educational programs, poetry, children’s activities, living statues, lights and art. A plethora of culture and activities all in one day..and its FREE!

There will be special presentations by the Ballet Folklórico Dominicano, el Coro de cámara  del Ministerio de Cultura / Chamber Choir of the Ministry of Culture, Koribe; danza contemporánea / contemporary dance, and DJ music.

Merengue singer Geovanny Polanco will be closing the event in Santiago and here in the Ciudad Colonial the closing event is in Plaza España with a presentation by the Ballet Nacional Dominicano.

The museums will be open throughout the day but the big kick-off starts at 6:30 pm at the Museo de las Casas Reales headed by the Ministro de Cultura.

Another much loved Night of the Museums is here. This years Christmas version of the 4 time yearly event give all a chance to enjoy the many museums in the Colonial Zone for free. Saturday December 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight is when the fun happens. There will be guided tours, costumed characters, cultural activities and and art. There is fun for all, young and old, tourists and locals. It is all here in the Zone.

We are looking forward to the live chorus and dance event of Carmina Burana sung by more than 70 voices. The big event will be happening at Fortaleza Ozama at 8:30PM.

festival Santa Barbara 3-23 to 29-2015*Festival Santa Barbara March 23 to the 29th. In the Santa Barbara section of the Colonial City is a week long festival sponsored by Centro de la Imagen, a product of Modafoca. This project is to transform and beautify different spaces in the city. This festival continues the project of painting the walls of many of the buildings with urban art commonly known as graffiti. There will be national and international artists contributing their artistic talents to beautify and provide a rich visual experience to the people that visit this small sector located next to the oldest part of the Ciudad Colonial. The group will be working with artists and community residents in the neighborhood, with the support of sponsors, public institutions and partners in a week long outdoor program geared to engage and educate the community and its visitors.

Every season the Ministerio de Cultura gives us 1 day of free museum visits, some fun cultural entertainment and learning experiences in the Colonial Zone.

The winter Long Night of Museums theme is ¨Tiempo de Amor y Paz; Navidad en el Alcázar de Colón¨ / Time of Love and Peace; Christmas in the Alcázar de Colón. This will be a time to learn and enjoy all the beauty and curiosities of the Dominican Christmas.

Come, learn and celebrate ¨La Navidad Dominicana¨ in the Zona Colonial on Saturday December 13, 2014 from 9AM to 12 midnight.

This event is held 4 times a year and it fun for the entire family from 9AM to midnight. There are all sorts of activities including theater, dance, painting, music, literature, crafts, theater activities and there are always foods of all sorts for dining and munching.

There are 13 different museums open free to the public in the Colonial City that are open free of charge for this fun day. This seasons theme compares Spain and and Dominican Republic shared customs traditions.
