My commentary…
The people of the Santa Barbara Sector of the Colonial City have been without electricity since 6PM Tuesday night. This is a 24 hour circuit where all art supposed to have electricity 24 hours a day because all pay the high cost of having this convenience each month.
A transformer blew on Tuesday October 15, 2013 at 6PM. The people on the bottom part of Isabel la Catolica and the corner of Portes are effected. There are many residences, 3 hotels, 2 Cafeterias, 1 Colmado and the park Pellerano Castro known by the neighbors as Parque Rosado. All without electricity.
The people are dealing with the inconvenience of the road work from the remodeling of the Zona Colonial. They are without water for days on end. Their electric is sporadic. They had to run wires for electricity from time to time. They have to use hoses to get water into their homes. And now this.
OK. A transformer blew. The electric company had all this day in the daylight to repair this problem and they never came. WHY? With this work. The mud. The dirt. The water and power outages and now this. A great example if you want to bring tourists here.
Would you want to walk on this street at night especially if you were a tourist and had no idea where you were? The neighbors contacted the newspaper and tv and staged a huelga (strike) tonight protesting about this on going problem.
The complaints I have heard from tourists are many. The complaints from locals are many. If you want to repair the area and bring more tourists you better thing twice because right now you are frightening many away. I have heard many tourists complaints about the noise in their hotels. They are afraid to walk around when the streets are not lighted and there is only mud and no sidewalks.
Do your work but why do you have to inconvenience businesses, people and daily life when you do it? This is my commentary.
