Noche Larga de los Museos Invierno en Navidad Saturday December 7, 2013. The Ministry of Culture made a day of free museums has activities that are historical, cultural and just for fun happens 4 times a year. With events happening in many parts of the Dominican Republic.
This special Christmas / Winter edition will be extra fun for adults and children. Cities participating in this special Christmas event are Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, Santiago and Higüey will have activities starting at 9 in the morning until 12 midnight. There will be a total of 22 institutions highlighting their historical legacy for the enjoyment of both Dominicans and foreigners.
There will be music, theater, exhibitions, workshops, crafts, tours, costumed characters, a Christmas fair, tastings and performances, totally free for the family.
*Santo Domingo Museums and events – Open museums include Museo del Hombre Dominicano / Museum of the Dominican Man, Las Casas Reales, Trampolín, Casa del Tostado, Fortaleza Ozama, Alcázar de Colón, Casa de Teatro, Centro Cultural de España, Centro Cultural de las Telecomunicaciones / Cultural Center of Telecommunication, Centro Cultural BanReservas / BanReservas Cultural Center, Colegio de Artistas Plásticos / College of Fine Artists, Centro de Imagen and Centro de Inventario.
Ringing of the bells – At 9PM all the churches of the Colonial City will be ringing their bells / Toque de Campanas in unison making a special concerts called “Patrimonio Cultural, Iglesias y Catedral de la Ciudad Colonial”.
Free Concert – From 10 to 12 midnight the audience will be entertained with a grand concert in the Plaza España called “La Gallera”, with the participation of Jhonny Ventura, Maridalia Hernández the typical Dominican music of Rafaelito Román.
