June brings us the start of the hurricane season which continues through the summer ending the end of August. Please make sure you are prepared just in case a hurricane decides to visit our island.
The Flamboyant (Royal Poinciana or Flamboyan) Tree can be seen blooming throughout the country with its bright red flowers lighting up both the city and country side.

One of the favorite yearly events since its start in 2000, The Santo Domingo Jazz Festival, is returning starting this month to the Casa de Teatro. The festival was started to support the development of Dominican groups and let people enjoy the national and international jazz at affordable prices. It aims to grow new talent of the Dominican Jazz and to support the promotion of existing ones.
In this, its sixteenth edition, the Jazz Festival Santo Domingo 2015 Casa de Teatro will present a billboard with groups on Thursday’s from the United States, France, Cuba and Spain running from Thursday June 11th to Thursday July 30th starting at 9PM costing RD$500 in la sala and RD$300 at Café Bar.
