What’s Happening in the Zone April / Abril 2014

April brings the holiest of times, Easter known as Semana Santa, to Dominican Republic. There will be many processions throughout the streets of the Colonial City with people proclaiming their faith.

*Playa Guibia, the only swimming beach in Santo Domingo, will not be open for swimming BUT they are going to be turning the Malecon in Santo Domingo at Guibia into a beach for the people that are not able to leave the city for the big holiday weekend. There will be 12 swimming pools, games, karaoke, concerts, volleyball tournaments, domino game tables and more for those who cannot go away for the long weekend. The Malecon will be closed from Wednesday, 16 April starting at 3PM between Calle Socorro Sanchez to Calle San Geronimo.The area will be open to the public with security and medical personal near by from Thursday to Sunday. The water – pool – play area is open from 9AM to 6PM.
