IODA World Sailing Championship 2012

International Dinghy Association (IODA) World Sailing Championship will be holding their regatta in Boca Chica, Andres Bay, República Dominicana at the Santo Domingo Yacht Club July 15 through July 26, 2012.

Organized by the Asociación Dominicana de Optimist (ADO), hosted by the Club Náutico de Santo Domingo (CNSD)in Boca Chica with the support of the Dominican Sailing Federation.
The regatta is one of the most important sailing events to take place in the Dominican Republic and the World. There are around 300 competitors from 70 countries expected to compete.

Andrea Garrochategui de Pacheco is the president of the tournament organizing committee.

Sunday, July 15 is the official arrival day with registrations and measurements.
Monday, July 16 is the practice race and opening ceremony.
Tuesday, July 17 through Wednesday, July 25 the races will be held.
Thursday, July 26 Closing and Prize Giving Ceremony.

The course for the fleet racing will be an outer-loop trapezoid with the finish line at the end of the second windward leg. For the team racing championships the course will be a starboard “S” course.
