From October 5 to 12, 2014 will be held the second festival of its kind at the Anthropological Reserve Pomier Caves National Monument / Reserva Antropológica Monumento Natural Cuevas del Pomier.
This second version of the Festival will feature parades in Taino clothing. There will be a Taino areitos contest, poetry readings, creative workshops, craft workshops, sports tournaments, food tasting, creating murals, drums, Perico Ripiao music, tour of the reserve and the Taíno path.
This year there will be a special award “Premio Areito Taíno” for middle school students in the San Cristóbal Province. Each school will be invited to participate with a group representing the Taínos. The group will preform a dance or theater depicting the lifestyles of the Taino culture: dance, dress, food, religion, music, etc. The award will be presented on Sunday 12.
The festival will be held at the front courtyard of the Pomier Caves Anthropological Reserve at off of Autopista 6 de Novembre, San Cristóbal, not far from La Toma.
