For ten years the Botanical Garden holds the 10th National Festival of Plants and Flowers / Jardín Botánico realiza el 10a Festival Nacional de Plantas y Flores, one of the most significant to publicize the Dominican wildlife events. For three consecutive days there are wonderful exhibits of plants, flowers, irrigation equipment and machinery for gardening. There are lectures, workshops and courses that address different aspects of the world of Dominican plants are made. They also have many of the plants for sale.
This celebration of nature has become the perfect space for nurserymen, horticulturalists and craftsmen to promote and sell their products. The main objective of the National Festival of Plants and Flowers is to educate and motivate participants and visitors to know and learn about the Dominican Republics rich flora that consists of more than 6,000 species and about 2,000 of which are endemic.
The X Festival Nacional de Plantas y Flores at the Jardín Botánico Nacional Dr. Rafael M. Moscoso, Av. República de Colombia, Santo Domingo. It will be from Friday October 31 to Sunday November 2, 2014 starting daily at 9AM.

There will be many family fun events and many activities for the children to enjoy and learn from. Some of the lectures will include “The value of protected wildlife areas to ecotourism” and the workshop “Controlling ornamental plant diseases and pests”.
